My child stopped coming to practices several weeks/months ago but I never turned off his enrollment. What can I do?

Why do your wrestling programs start at Kindergarten?

  • Our mission is to foster the growth of wrestling through engagement and retention. Over our years of teaching youth wrestling, statistics overwhelmingly indicate that children who start wrestling too early tend to quit at a higher rate compared to those who begin the sport later. We believe wrestling demands a higher level of emotional maturity and physical literacy than many other youth sports.

  • Please consider enrolling your younger athletes into a good tumbling or gymnastics program.

Do you offer private training lessons?

Do you offer a discount for additional siblings?

  • We do not have a sibling discount at this time.

PASSION FIRST WRESTLING ACADEMY QUESTIONS

Is there a difference between Passion First 1, 2, 3,etc?

  • There is no difference between Passion First 1, 2, or 3 besides their times. They are all the same class/program.

What age is the Passion First Wrestling Academy designed for?

What do you recommend for pre-Kdg age kids?

When signing up, are specific practice days chosen, or are all practices included?

  • When you sign up, you participate only in practices on the specific day you've chosen. Each of our Passion First practices operates independently. Wrestlers wanting to attend additional practices each week must sign up for each program/day separately.

My child begins soccer next month and her games will be during Passion First Wrestling Academy practice.

  • We advocate for children to engage in various sports and activities during their formative years. Passion First Wrestling Academy offers young athletes the chance to learn wrestling at any time of the year that suits their schedule. Families have the flexibility to begin, freeze, rejoin, etc., according to their needs throughout the year. We're thrilled to offer families the option to explore wrestling at any time, without a long-term commitment to a specific season."

Could you explain the process of advancement through the program's testing system?

  • Testing usually takes place on the final practice of each month, after the regular session. Children selected to test will receive a notification card a week in advance, instructing them to remain after practice the following week. They should be ready to display the required skills for their level.

How long does it take to complete the program?

  • The duration to complete a program or level varies, influenced by factors such as age, maturity, athletic ability, attendance, and behavior.

If my child is absent when testing cards are distributed or misses practice on testing night, what should I do?

  • Wrestlers are required to be present to receive their card and for the actual testing for advancement. There are no provisions for makeup tests.

Do you allow make up practices if we have a conflict during our regular scheduled practice?

  • Yes, we permit makeup practices, depending on availability in our other classes. All makeup practices must be requested and approved before the wrestler misses their originally scheduled practice.

Do you offer proration or refunds for missed practices due to holidays or weather?

  • We do not prorate on a monthly basis. Our program operates as a subscription service, allowing members to attend classes as often as they wish each month while subscribed to our program. As the number of Mondays in a month varies from 3 to 5 throughout the year, we neither charge extra for months with 5 practices nor reimburse for months with only 3.

To offer maximum convenience, we allow registrations at any time during the month, rather than waiting for each new month to begin. Tracking payments and reimbursements based on a set number of practices each month would be complex for us."

My child is currently enrolled in Passion First, and I'd like to add an additional practice for them each week.

  • Wrestlers can enroll in as many Passion First classes as they wish. Use the code PFWAPLUS at checkout to receive a discount on the second (and third) enrollments.

My child is interested in participating in the “XYZ” tournament this year. Is it acceptable for them to take part? It would only be one or two tournaments.

  • Our philosophy strongly emphasizes that the right time for competition will come later. This belief is integral to our program, as it's reflected in the name 'Passion First.' Our Passion First program is an essential part of WWC's mission to 'grow participation and retain more young athletes in the sport of wrestling.'

We aim to instill a deep passion in our kids by fostering positive experiences with the sport. Rushing into youth wrestling competitions too early often leads to negative experiences, causing some children to quit the sport due to being ill-prepared.

  • Similar to swimming, gymnastics, or taekwondo, where kids must complete a program showcasing fundamental skills before joining a competitive team, we believe youth wrestling should follow a similar approach. This is particularly important given the physical nature of the sport, which many kids may not naturally adapt to immediately.

We focus on providing children with a foundation in basic wrestling skills, rules, and strategies before introducing the added stress and pressure of a kids wrestling tournament.

Due to these reasons and more, we do not condone Passion First Wrestling Academy athletes to enter wrestling competitions before completing the program. Our practices deliberately include various forms of live wrestling, mini-tournaments, and situational competitions to ensure kids gain experience competing and wrestling with each other.

Throughout the program, our wrestlers will face physical and mental challenges. They'll encounter situations like their first cross face, fat lip, bloody nose, and mat burn in a safe, controlled practice environment. By tackling these challenges during practice, they'll be better equipped to handle the mental and physical stress of tournaments when the time comes."

My child just received their Black Shirt. What program should they participate in next?

  • Athletes that complete the Passion First Wrestling Academy program are eligible to join our WWC Predator Wrestling (competitive team).
